History Of The Barnyard

Building Custom Sheds with Quality and Care for Over 30 Years

The Barnyard Storage Sheds began in 1993 in Fruita, Colorado. Dale owned the business for 9 years until his employee Dave bought the business in 2002. Dave owned the Barnyard until February of 2016 when the current owners John & Tammy Hershberger purchased the business. The business was moved to its current location in Grand Junction, Colorado in January of 2020.

Since taking over The Barnyard, John & Tammy have remained committed to the original vision: providing custom built sheds that reflect craftsmanship, durability, and the needs of each customer. John & Tammy enjoy working with every customer to provide them a shed that will fit their needs & last for years to come. Each custom shed is built at our facility in Grand Junction to ensure the high standard of quality that was set when the business first opened over 30 years ago.

Here at The Barnyard, we believe it is more than just building custom built sheds, it’s about building trust, quality, and lasting relationships in the Grand Junction community.

Current Owners

John & Tammy

Hello, we are John and Tammy, the owners of The Barnyard in Grand Junction, Colorado!

John grew up in the Amish faith in Minnesota and left when he was 17 years old. He met Tammy shortly thereafter, and we began to build a life together. After moving to Wyoming, we got married, and at that time John worked in the oil field, and Tammy worked as an office manager.

After living there for six years, we felt called to make a change and decided to move to Colorado. We were excited to see what the Lord had in store for us. After meeting with Dave, the previous owner of The Barnyard, we decided that this was the next chapter of our lives. We purchased the business and got right to work.

Since purchasing the business, we have been dedicated to building quality sheds while providing excellent customer service. Our life’s purpose is to help people; to share our testimony of the goodness of God and to treat our employees and customers like family.

We look forward to growing our business and solving our customers’ storage needs for years to come.

John

Delivery
John grew up around carpentry and learned at a early age about hard work and is dedicated to providing the best customer service possible. John is the visionary of the business. You will find him most any day with a big smile on his face and excited to work with each new client to deliver their completed building. He is dedicated to making each delivery go as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

Tammy

Office Administrator
Tammy is the implementor of the business. Her focus on leading her team, growing the business and making sure everyone is taken care of is something that can't be replicated. She spends most of her time handling the financials/accounting side of the business. Her other passion is leading & encouraging her teammates to live their best life, dream big dreams & overall just encouraging them to live their best life now.

Daniel

Sales & Production Manager
Dan has worked for us since the beginning of 2020 as one of our lead builders. Dan’s strong work ethic, get it done attitude and smart wit put him right at home with the rest of us. One of Dan’s favorite things is building custom buildings as it gives him the chance to be creative.

Nick

Builder
Nick is a valuable asset to our team! Before joining The Barnyard, he successfully owned and operated his own business for five years. He brings that experience, along with a strong sense of determination and professionalism, to everything he does. Nick is also a man of faith and enjoys spending quality time with his wife.

Kenneth

Builder in Training
Kenneth is a dedicated builder at the Barnyard who takes pride in his craftsmanship and strong work ethic. Guided by his faith in God, he approaches both his work and life with integrity and purpose. Outside of work, Kenneth enjoys spending quality time with his family and staying active through regular workouts, always striving to grow stronger both physically and personally.
